Global tales from the saddle
Riding around the world was always going to be a decision made under the influence of alcohol. Having just completed a six week trip around Georgia and Armenia, Tatjana and I longed for an extended trip to pastures greener, rather than return home. On the shores of the Turkish Black Sea coast we made a drunken pact that would develop into a solid plan four years later.
Cycling Spirits is the story of the first leg of our ride from England to New Zealand. A journey that took us through West Africa and down the east coast of South America. It covers everything, all the good and all the bad times that come from sitting in the saddle for days and weeks at a time.
I hope you enjoy the tale.
Daren Drew Forest of Dean Spring 2018
Re-join Daren and Tatjana as they pick up
the pieces after a summer of loss and begin a
twenty thousand kilometre bike ride, searching
for the perfect tailwind to carry them home and
finish what they began over a year ago.
Preoccupied by doubt, inner voices and bad decisions,
the journey home fragments and teeters on the
brink of failure. Salvation awaits in the high
mountains of central China, in forgotten corners
of the Silk Road and through the actions of kind
strangers.
Road Tramps is an honest story about life on the road
and what it means to cycle a very long way.
Its been a long road. Enjoy part two.
